Google Ads

What Is Google Ads?

Google Ads (formerly known as Google AdWords) is Google’s online advertising service. This platform is designed to have users pay to showcase their company through advertising text copy, listing of products, or video content. Businesses who advertise with Google make an average of $2 in revenue for every $1 they spend on advertising. Another interesting fact is that Google dominates mobile search advertising by capturing 97% of mobile search spend.

One of the largest benefits of using Google Ads is you can choose how you want to reach your customers. Companies have the choice of using graphic display ads, YouTube ads, ads that display text regarding their business, or in-app ads. No matter which route you choose Google will help get your ads in front of the customers who matter most.

How Does Google Ads Work?

When someone searches for a product, service, or even does a random search on Google, Google looks at the advertising pool and determines whether there will be an auction. If multiple companies are bidding on the same keywords, whether they are exact matches or broad matches, Google will deem if they are relevant to the search query and an auction may be triggered. Learn more about how Google Ads Work.

Your company will identify keywords they want to bid on, how much they want to spend, and create groupings of these keywords that are paired with an associated ad. Google then enters the most relevant keywords from your account into the auction with the maximum bid you’ve designated for that ad. Once your ad has been entered into the auction, there are two qualifying factors that will determine where your ad will rank.

  1. Maximum CPC Bid – how much you are bidding to make your ad show. Some ad spaces are extremely competitive, others may not be.
  2. Quality Score – this metric determines the relevancy and usefulness of your ad based on the Click Through Rate, ad content and effectiveness of your landing page. A higher quality score will usually require you to pay less for your bid.

Once these two factors have been determined, Google will place your ad in a certain position on a certain page. The reason Google is so competitive is because companies are trying to outbid one another to have the top spot on page one of the search engine. If a company falls short of the top spot, they still have a chance of being on the first page either above or below the organic search results. These ads are known as PPC or pay-per-click advertisements.

What Types Of Content Can Google Ads Have?

Google Ads Agency

PPC ads have two main types of content; text and images. Ads appearing on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs), are usually text ads. There is also the option of running a ‘Display’ campaign that shows either image ads or hybrid image/text ads on other non-Google websites.

Both of these campaign types can be extremely successful for your company as long as the campaigns have been well thought out and strategically planned for long-term results.

Our decades of experience allow us to create campaigns that target your ideal audience with immediate results. Then, our team of experts will create unique ads that appear whenever someone types in the searches that we track in your campaign. These ads lead back to your landing pages, which will be designed to convert visitors into customers.

One of the strongest features of SEM (Search Engine Marketing) is how you are billed. Advertisers only pay money when their ads are clicked. Which is why SEM is also often referred to as “pay-per-click” advertising. Using pre-set budgets, you only pay for the ads that create visitors, making SEM on average over 50 times more effective than any television commercial or billboard.

What Other Benefits Does Google Ads Provide?

Google is full of endless possibilities in the marketing realm. Check out these amazing benefits Google Ads can provide you and your company.

  1. Completely Measurable – Google Ads provides metrics for you to see how well your campaigns are performing. Even metrics that you did not know existed! Impressions, cost per click, and more.
  2. Google Ads is Scalable – want to reach a larger audience than last month? Ad reach can be quickly scaled to show to more potential customers across a wider area.
  3. Faster than SEO – Search Engine Optimization can take months before you start to see results. PPC with Google starts to show results immediately because online users are constantly searching the web for products and services. This is also a great way to test the waters and see what keywords are working and those that are not.
  4. Search Engine Results Pages have been overtaken by Google Ads – Each year more and more room is presented at the top of the page for paid ads, rather than organic. Sponsored or Promoted ads take up 2 out of 3 clicks on the first page.
  5. Reach who you want – stay local or go global depending on the services your company provides.
